Covid-19 Policies and Procedures:

Drop-off Procedure for the first days returning to school, and for new families:

Please note: If your child feels comfortable with curbside drop-off on the first days returning to school then please follow the procedure outlined below under “Standard Drop-off Procedure:”

Everyone over the age of 36 months entering the premises shall be wearing a cloth face covering/mask.

Take shoes off (parents and children) and leave on the front porch.

Only 1 parent (2 parents okay for new families) arriving at school with their child – Please no siblings if at all possible.

Put your child's lunch sack in the entrance way.

Take your child to a teacher who will assist saying good-byes.

Teachers will then take your child for hand washing and temperature check, and then outside to see their friends and play!

Standard Drop-off Procedure:

We will be doing curbside drop-off.  When you arrive AND your child is ready to go (mask, shoes, & lunch ready) please send a group text to Ms. Patti (310) 469-2787, Ms. Ana (213) 278-6826, and Ms. Mia (310) 745-1417 and we will come out to meet you.

Each day parents will be asked the following screening questions:

Has your child exhibited any signs or symptoms of the following in the last 24 hours: Fever, cough, cold, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, rash, or allergies?

Has anyone in your home exhibited any signs or symptoms of the following in the last 24 hours: Fever, cough, cold, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, rash, or allergies?

Has your family been practicing Social Distancing?

Has your family been wearing mask when in public?

If the answer to question #1 or question #2 is YES your child will not be permitted to attend school that day.

If the answer to question #3 or #4 is NO then your child will not be permitted to attend school.

A teacher will do a no-touch temperature check.

After screening questions and temperature checks teachers will then take your child to the porch to leave shoes, and then inside for hand washing and then outside to see their friends and play!

Pick-up Procedure:

We will be doing curbside pick-up.  When you arrive please send a group text to Ms. Patti (310) 469-2787, Ms. Ana (213) 278-6826, and Ms. Mia (310) 745-1417 and we will take your child to wash their hands, and then we will come out to meet you.

Note: Please be patient with new drop-off and pick-up procedures as this will take a little practice and getting used to.  Additionally, it will take a little time to wash hands and gather belongings.

Sick Policy: No teacher, child, parent, nanny, or sibling will be permitted on the premises if they have any signs or symptoms of illness. This will include the following signs/symptoms but are not limited to: Fever, cough, cold, runny nose, sore throat, watery eyes, sneezing, rash, or allergies.

If you or your child is sick or suffering from allergies please do not send your child to school.

If anyone in your family is sick please do not send your child to school.

If your child displays any signs or symptoms of illness you will be called immediately to pick them up.

Please Note: If your child is tired, cranky, moody, crying or not being themselves they are likely sick,  or getting sick,  so please do not send them to school.

Temperature: We will take the temperature of everyone who comes into the school including teachers, parents, nannies, and children using a no-touch forehead thermometer.  We will do additional temperature checks at 90-minute intervals throughout the school day.  If your child has a fever we will isolate the child with a teacher and parents will be called to pick up.

Hand Washing: Please wash your child’s hands before coming to school and when they return home from school.

Hand Washing Procedure: Thorough hand washing will be done with antibacterial soap and hot water for a minimum of 20 seconds.  Thorough hand drying will be with a new towel for each child, and hands will be completely dried.

We will be washing each child’s hands when they arrive to school, after restroom breaks, before each meal/snack, and immediately before they are picked up from school.

We will do hand washing at minimum of 60-minute intervals throughout the school day, and additionally as needed.

Siblings: Please do not bring siblings to school.  If it is absolutely necessary to bring in a younger sibling then please keep them at your side and hold their hand. Do not let them run around or touch toys or tables etc., or engage with teachers, other parents, or other children.

Shoes: Since it’s believed the Covid-19 virus does carry on shoes and since children often play on the floor, outside shoes will not be permitted into the school.  All teachers, parents, and children are required to take their shoes off and leave them on the front porch before entering the school.

Please only send your children to school in shoes that are easy to slip on/off without any assistance.  Crocs, Natives, and flip flops are excellent choices because they can easily be sanitized and they are very easy to take on and off.  We do not want to put teacher’s or children’s health in danger by having to touch shoes.

Parents Visiting: We will not be permitted to have any parent visitation at school.  The only exceptions are for the first days when children are returning to school, and when a new child/family is starting – The first week returning to school allows a grace period for drop-off, provided parents are following all the same safety protocols, policies and procedures as outlined.

Socializing at School: Parents are not permitted to socialize on or near school premises.  This restriction includes front yard and school parking areas.

No Visitors: Only essential staff will be permitted on the school premises.  Exceptions for new families: Both parents can be present at drop-off for your child's first day/week (if necessary) at school.

No Social Gatherings: No social gatherings, recitals, graduations, or parties are permitted.

Adults and Masks: Parents, Nannies and teachers are be required to wear masks anywhere on or near school premises.  This will include in your cars when teachers are coming to retrieve or drop-off your child.

Children and Masks: The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services requires all children over the age of 36 months to wear masks while at school.

Social Distancing: The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services requires all children and staff practice social distancing with a minimum distance of 6 feet.

We will institute social distancing measures with the children with designated play areas, seating areas, and increased outside playtime to approximately 90% of the day.

We will support social distancing with thoughtful consideration of what toys/games/activities will be appropriate to facilitate social distancing.

Meals Sack/Snacks and Lunches:

We will be able to prepare and provide simple snacks only.

Parents will need to provide their child’s lunch along with utensils and napkins.

Parents should provide their child’s water bottle each day.

We will not be permitted to heat or refrigerate food so the meals should be good to go without those accommodations.

We will either be disposing of your meal packaging (if disposable), or putting it back in your reusable lunch sack as we are not permitted to wash any personal dishes or utensils.

Nannies: Please make sure that you have shared all protocols and procedures in their entirety with anyone who would be dropping off or picking up, including nannies.

Toys and Cleaning Procedures: To ensure toys do not pose a threat of contamination, and to avoid children’s excessive exposure to cleaning products, all toys will be on a weekly rotation system.

All school toys (inside and outside) have been separated by days of the week… There will be Monday toys, Tuesday toys, Wednesday toys etc.  At the end of use each day the toys will be gathered up and put away for 7 days.

Cleaning Procedures: The school will be sanitized throughout the day according to Centers for Diseases Control protocols.  We will routinely be cleaning frequently touched surfaces (for example: tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, toilets, sinks, and faucets) with household cleaners and EPA registered disinfectants that are appropriate for the surface.

At the end of the day all surfaces including the floors and outside play areas will be sanitized again with household cleaners and EPA registered disinfectants that are appropriate for the surface.

Laundry: All hand towels, dish towels, rags, sponges will be single use and will be laundered in hottest setting wash cycle with soap at the end of each day.

Sick Teachers: Teachers will adhere to the same sick policies as children and will need to stay home when they are ill.  In the event a teacher is going to be out sick we will need to close, as we are unable to bring in substitute teachers.

When this happens we will send a text message and email message as soon as possible.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause but it is also a necessary step for everyone's health and safety.

State Mandated Shut Down: In the event the State of California decides we should close due to increased risks or cases we will close for as long as deemed necessary.

When this happens we will send a text message and email message as soon as possible.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause but it is also a necessary step for everyone's health and safety.

Covid-19 case at school:  In this event we will contact Department of Health for guidance on current protocols for testing, contact tracing, and closure.

Covid-19 case in a Family’s home:  Please notify the school immediately and we will contact Department of Health for guidance on current protocols for testing, contact tracing, and closure.

Poor Air Quality Days AND Rainy or Inclement Weather Days: Returning to school in the environment of Covid-19 requires we spend as much as 90% of our day outdoors.  In the event that there is very poor/unsafe air quality or rain/inclement weather days it will be necessary that we close the school for those days.

When this happens we will send a text message and email message as soon as possible.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause but it is also a necessary step for everyone's health and safety.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we all try to navigate a very complex situation.
